VideoCompress — iOS Privacy Policy

Learn how our iPhone and iPad app handles videos, local files, photo permissions, purchases, support requests, and your privacy choices.

Last updated: 2026-09-18

Effective date: September 18, 2026.

This policy covers the VideoCompress app for iPhone and iPad. It is separate from the privacy policy for the videocompress.free website.

Your videos and local files

VideoCompress imports the videos you select and processes them on your device. We do not upload your selected videos, audio, thumbnails, filenames, or compression history to our servers. Compression and previews are performed locally.

The app stores imported working copies, compressed output, thumbnails, settings, and job/history records on your device. Unfinished jobs may retain an input copy so you can retry. Your original video is not changed or deleted. The app is not a photo-library cleaner.

The system photo picker gives the app access to the items you select. When you choose to save a result to Photos, the app requests permission to add items. It does not request broad photo-library scanning or deletion access. Files chosen with the system file picker are accessed to perform the operation you request.

Capture dates and location metadata may exist in your original file. The app retains available capture dates when the corresponding setting is enabled. Location metadata is removed by default and is retained only when you enable that option. This information is processed locally, not collected by us. The app does not request access to your current location.

Accounts, advertising, and analytics

The iOS app does not require an account and does not include advertising, tracking, or third-party analytics SDKs. In its current version, we do not collect personal data from the app for analytics or marketing.

Apple services and purchases

Apple manages App Store purchases and payment information. The app uses StoreKit to verify purchase entitlements and restore eligible purchases. We do not receive your payment card details through the app.

Videos stored in iCloud may need to be downloaded by Apple's services before compression. Copies you save to Photos or Files may sync through services you have enabled. Device backups may include app data depending on your device and backup settings. These services operate under their own policies and settings.

Sharing and deleting files

When you use Share, Save to Photos, or Save to Files, you choose the destination. That destination's privacy practices apply to the resulting copy.

You can delete the app's compressed output and its record from History, or clear temporary files from Settings when processing is idle. Deleting an app copy does not delete the original video or copies you have saved elsewhere. You can manage those separately in Photos, Files, or the receiving app. Deleting the app removes its local container according to iOS behavior; copies saved outside the app and any backups must be managed separately.

Website visits and support

Opening a link to videocompress.free in your browser is a website visit, covered by the website's separate privacy policy at website privacy policy. The website may use website analytics; those scripts are not embedded in the native app.

If you email support, we receive the information you choose to send and use it to respond to your request and handle the support conversation. Please avoid sending private videos or unnecessary personal information. Contact support@videocompress.free for privacy questions or requests concerning a support conversation.

Changes

We will update this policy if the app's data practices change. The effective date above identifies the published version.
